These holiday accommodations in Maremma are in a farmhouse which dates back to 1769 and maintains the typical old style thanks to a restoration which has respected the original architecture. Surrounded by its 22 hectares of olive groves, the Bed and Breakfast is located on a “Poggio”, Tuscan for knoll, which dominates the valley of the Ombrone river. A typical Tuscan road lined by cypresses leads to the main villa and to the large garden. The holiday accommodations are in and around the main villa. The farm produces an excellent olive oil, which one can taste at any time, as well as honey, jams, fruit and vegetables all available to guests on request.
The B&B and apartments for rent in Tuscany are located at about 10 km from Maremma’s main town, Grosseto, and at about 20 km from the uncontaminated seaside of Maremma. The ancient village of Castiglion della Pescaia, now a renowned holiday resort, with its medieval fortress is at only 30 km. Also worth a visit are Scansano, famous for its Morellino wine, at just 18 km. Siena is at 70 km and Montalcino at 50 km, as well as the spa town of Saturnia. For nature lovers, the property has its own park but is also at just 20 km from the beautiful Natural Park of Uccellina. As for history enthusiasts, Maremma is rich in Etruscan ruins. The nearest are at Roselle, a village at about 10 km from the farmhouse. Whereas the ruins of an ancient castle can be found at 4 km at Istia d’Ombrone, as well as shops and a restaurant serving the typical food of the area.

Maremma

Just choose your accommodation in the Maremma: in the countryside, completely immersed in the nature, or on the coast, along the crystal clear water of the sea. If you want to spend a relaxing holiday, the countryside and the beautiful medieval villages of the Maremma are the perfect place where you can enjoy your vacation in one of our accommodations in Tuscany. Along the coastline, tuscany holiday rent offers a wide selection of Tuscan apartments for rent, located in beautiful residences or in small, pleasant holiday homes.
The south-western corner of Tuscany, which most people link with the province of Grosseto, is a charmingly unique region.
The Maremma, land of the Italian cowboys called “butteri”, was once an impenetrable and dangerous place owing to highwaymen. Today, the visitor, even after a brief stay, will be seized by the urge to thoroughly experience and discover a spiritual place which regenerates and where everything is on a pleasantly human scale. Its incredible variety of landscapes (coast, hill and mountains), its great sense of freedom, the host of beautiful villages scattered all throughout the area, its historical remnants, the high quality of its natural products, the authenticity of its flavours together with the wide range of leisure activities on offer will bewitch the eager eye.
Families can here spend an unforgettable holiday, thanks to the numerous opportunities of exploring various thematic trails that suit everybody's tastes: be it along the coast, on the hills or mountains in the surroundings, if not on the quest of ancient places, eye-catching scenery, or particular colours and flavours, as well as the pleasure of wine and gourmet food. Because of the highest quality products Maremma has received international awards, celebrating both the excellence and the link to ancient traditions. Dishes such as "acquacotta" (a delicious vegetable soup),"panzanella" (a bread salad with tomatoes and basil) and "pappardelle al sugo di cinghiale"(a local variety of pasta with wild boar sauce) are the recipes for gourmets, constantly hunting for specialities and delicacies.
It is one of the very few territories left which still reflects the real ‘dolce vita’, uncontaminated by the tourist boom and which still remains faithful to its ancient peasant roots. Sparsely populated, much of its area is covered with thick forests of chestnuts and beeches and sprawling green fields.
Exciting and adventurous trips are to be embarked in this region: on foot, by horse, by bike, in canoe, or even by hot-air balloon. During July in Saturnia the gourmet “Flying with taste” hot-air balloon festival takes place. Likewise visit Manciano's natural jewel Saturnia, whose hot springs and relaxation form an ancient combination that still holds its attraction today. Peacefulness, inner harmony, beauty treatments and cures performed by professional hands, together with enchanting sceneries will arouse the senses. Physical and mental well-being puts us back in touch with ourselves, allowing our life to get back in gear. These attributes have been recognized since the mists of time, dating back to the Etruscan and Roman times, with the cult of thermal waters not only as centre for cures but also of pleasure and social and political life.
Don't miss the many Etruscan traces still visible in the towns of Vetulonia, Roselle, with its archaeological site dating back to the third and second centuries BC., the necropolises in the area of Sovana and the remains of the acropolis of Lago dell'Accesa. Representatives of the Middle Ages are, instead, the hilltop villages or towns such as Massa Marittima “the Medieval gem”, Pitigliano, a fairy-tale town, Castiglione della Pescaia, Campagnatico, and onwards from Grosseto to Talamone before descending towards the crystal clear sea of the Costa d'Argento with its unpolluted beaches and the imposing fortress of Monte Argentario, dating back to the Spanish domination.
Maremma's amazing natural environment offers one of the sports in closest contact with nature: golf.
Porto Ercole, Gavorrano, Punta Ala, Manciano are generally considered golf paradises, where the sporting pleasure is perfectly matched with astonishingly enchanting views, such as at the Argentario Golf Club, or with the benefits of hot springs, at the Terme di Saturnia Golf Club, or with the sparkling blue costal sea, at Maremmello Golf Club. All of them are qualified golfing areas where the trick is to avoid being distracted by the marvellous surrounding scenery.
