The nice medieval village of Firenzuola was built in 1306, when the Republic of Florence decided to build a “new land”, on the Apennines (the mountains between Tuscany and Bologna), where the mighty family of the Ubaldini could serve the republic. In 1371 the Rocca was built, which is now the Town Hall building.
Casa Monni is an independent “Colonica” house (the backwall is attached to another house), comfortable, recently renovated, in a quiet position with a view over the valley, which is only 5 km from Firenzuola. Its origins are lost in the past. It is located in a place named “Casanuova” (new house), where the old church guests a beautiful Madonna painted on wood of the XVI century. In Firenzuola there is an interesting stone museum, shops, a restaurant, tennis court and the typical Italian street market, on Monday. In the area there are a lot of trekking paths and lakes for fishing. Florence is about 60 km away.
